Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Directors - Tyler Obituary

Patricia “Pat” Mulkey, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 15, 2025, in Whitehouse, Texas.

Born on April 23, 1950, in Covington, Virginia, to the late Josephine G. Paulus and Hendrick Paulus Jr., Patricia's life was marked by a deep love for family, education, and the beauty of the Smoky Mountains.  She earned a master’s degree in English and became a certified elementary and special education teacher, dedicating three decades to developing young minds in Tennessee and Texas.  Following her years in the classroom, Patricia returned to her treasured mountains, continuing her work educating children and teens with specialized needs.  After retirement, Grams returned to Texas to cherish time with her grandchildren.

Patricia was predeceased by her husband, Joseph E. Mulkey, in 2008.  Known for her independent spirit and fun-loving nature, she leaves behind a legacy of love, deeply adored by her two daughters and their husbands, Ashley and Charlie Miller of Whitehouse, Texas, and Patricia and Tim McAvoy of Seattle, Washington; three grandchildren, Camden, Ava, and Clara Miller of Whitehouse, Texas; her sister, Jolene Dell; and her niece and nephews, Erica, Philip, and Jon Dell.

Patricia found joy in family gatherings, the art of Cajun cooking, and sharing special memories of her life in the Virginia and Tennessee mountains.  She was a natural caretaker, and her devotion to family and friends will be remembered by all who knew her.

A visitation and celebration of life for Patricia Ann Paulus Mulkey, will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home in Tyler, Texas, with Pastor Charles Miller officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM, one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to  https://www.kcnq2cure.org/donate/  in honor of her granddaughter, Ava, who was born with KCNQ2 Encephalopathy.

We are so sorry for your loss. Prayers for peace and comfort for all who knew and loved your mother.

I’m so sorry to hear about Pat. She was a sweetheart, a wonderful wife to my brother Joe. He couldn’t have got a better wife if he looked the world over. And for you two girls, you know he loved y’all, and y’all loved him. My heart is broken to lose her, but I know she is at peace and with her “Joe”. Get your rest, Sister, I’ll always love you and miss you. Love, Mary

Oh Pat. I never stopped missing you when you moved away. Ashley and Trish were a blessing to us as well as you. Your memory will be a blessing to me, always. Rest easy girlfriend. Love you. Girls, you know you’ll be in my thoughts and prayers.
