Andrews Mortuary - Hampstead Chapel Obituary

Trish (Kennedy) Murphy, 60, of Orangeburg, New York, passed away on June 22, 2024, in Wilmington, North Carolina, surrounded by loved ones after a courageous near 20-year battle with cancer. She was a devoted mother to Mike Murphy (Tara) and Grace Delahanty (Steve), and a proud Gigi to Hayes, Cormac, and Weston. She was the best dog mom to her faithful companion, Tracker, the golden retriever who never left her side through life's ups and downs. Trish was a loyal wife to her childhood sweetheart, best friend, and late husband Mike Murphy, a US Marine Corps veteran. She was cherished as the daughter of Margaret and Peter Kennedy (both deceased), and sister to Karen Garland, John Kennedy (deceased), Peter Kennedy, Phil Kennedy, and Joe Kennedy always in her heart. In addition she leaves behind her many in-laws, nieces and nephews (who she adored dearly, and was their favorite Aunt) and many others whose lives she touched.

If you ever met Trish aka Aunt Trish aka momma Murf, you felt love. Her family was her greatest joy and she cherished every moment spent with them.  With a heart of pure gold, a hilariously contagious laugh, and a smile that could light up any room, she found happiness in life's simple pleasures. Trish had an itch for comfort. Comfort food (Green cake, french fries, and chicken tenders), comfort drinks (Gatorade zero, coffee, margaritas),and comfort clothes. She could often be found in her red and black buffalo plaid quarter zip or her purple robe if the temperature was a little chilly.  She had open arms and the most generous heart. Her home was your home, you always felt welcomed and comfortable.

Trish was an avid runner, who finished many marathons and half marathons. She ran until she no longer had the strength. When not running, she loved cheering on her loved ones, going to the beach, and the holidays...her home was always a sanctuary of joy during them. Her quirky decorations reflected her zest for life and she had an absolute gift for bringing loved ones together.  She never asked for anything, but gave everything. Her laughter was contagious, her kindness boundless, and her love for family and friends immeasurable, she was everyone's FAVORITE.

Though she will be deeply missed, she leaves behind a legacy of courage, love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.  Her spirit will forever live on as a shining example of strength and compassion. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, boundless energy, and countless memories she created.

Love you to infinity… and beyond!

Cheers to Trish!!

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you always keep your cup half full (never half empty), smile at a stranger, or do an act of kindness in Trish’s honor.

To honor her wishes, a private beach celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Not sure what to say?

Trish I’m so sorry to hear of your passing! As friends in high school we shared lots of fun, crazy times! What I remember most of all was your great big beautiful smile and your love of Murf! ! It was undeniable! You lost the love of your life, so young, so unfair, so tragically, but now are reunited! May you both rest together in peace. We visit Murf’s grave when we go see my dad in Arlington. A beautiful place to be at rest. May god grant you eternal peace. Love you Trish♥

So sorry for the family. Tricia will always be remembered as an incredible woman who had strength and compassion for people. Many great memories hanging out in Blauvelt with many friends and as an Orangeburg resident and I was welcomed and became a part of the crew. She will be missed by many.

To a beautiful women friend and family member you will be totally missed

Trish and her family were/are beautiful souls. We love you so much and our hearts ache for your loss. I am a believer and rest in the knowledge that Trish is at peace and whole in heaven with her brother, parents, God and our Lord Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for our friendship and times together with the Kennedy and Murphy families in Stafford and New York. One of my favorite foods was Trish’s manicotti! The Irish Blessing says it best for all of us: May the road rise up to meet...

Love love love to you Mikey and Gracie. Trish, you are one of one! Peace and love to the Kennedys and Murphys.

My deepest condolences to Trish's family and friends. You will be sadly missed. Rest in peace .Uncle Jim

My two childhood friends "Mike & Trish" are back together again. I'm extremely saddened to hear this news about Trish.

Mike & Grace, you're forever in my prayers, so sorry for your loss. I know for a fact that Dad, "Murf" was waiting for your Mom with open arms and a huge bear hug to follow as they will be flying around in heaven together with loved ones! You will be missed Trish, God bless you and your entire family.

Mike and Grace,
I am so sorry to hear of Trish’s passing. She raised wonderful children and I know this because Aunt Anne told me so!
