Geneva Jones Greve
Geneva "Jinkie" Greve, 97, a native of Perry, FL and lived in Tallahassee for the past 10 years, passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare following surgery on March 21, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Don Greve.
Geneva was born in Perry, FL on February 1, 1918 to the late Thomas N. Jones and Ethel Woodberry Jones. Upon completing high school at Taylor County High and received training in secretarial work at Lively Vocational School, she ventured out to explore the world. She worked as a licensed beautician, a cashier with Winn-Dixie working at various stores in Florida and Georgia. In 1943, she earned her FCC license and became a radio operator for station WTAL in Tallahassee. She then went on to work in a civil service position at Dale Mabry Air Field where she met and married the love of her life, Don. After the war, they moved to various locations around the country before moving back to Tallahassee in 1959. In 1964, they moved to Perry where they built, owned and operated the Sun N Sand Motel. In 2005, Jinkie sold the motel and moved back to Tallahassee to be closer to her son.
Jinkie was a lady of many talents. She was a voracious reader, an artist specializing in pastels and oils and a skilled gardener. She was a very gracious, kind loving and compassionate person who never met a stranger. She had a wonderful sense of humor to the very end and her insatiable zest for life carried over in all aspects of her life. She had an unbreakable faith and was a member of the First Christian Church.
Jinkie is survived by the other love of her life and only child Ben and daughter-in-law Judy, to whom she so lovingly said to often, you are the only daughter I will ever have. Other survivors include two nephews, Tom (Joyce) Williams of Tallahassee and Bill Maxwell of Atlanta, GA and two nieces Mary Anne Cleveland of Longwood, FL and Connie Lee of Perry, FL. She was preceded in death by a brother, Cornelius Jones, three sisters, Mary Williams, Jessie Inman and Kathryn Maxwell, three nephews, Lovett Williams, Robert Williams, Judson Jones; and one niece, Kathy Rizzo.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 27 at Bevis Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Bob Tindale officiating.
