Not sure what to say?

Pat was a friend, colleague, mentor, teacher, and supporter. Doesn't get any better than that in life. I always appreciated her warmth, her sense of humor, and her sensitivity. She was a champion for LBGT concerns and vocal in her support. Most of all I loved meeting up with her in a hallway or outside at GVSU as we both were walking along. Her smile, hug, and warmth brightened my day every time.

Hi, my names Miranda. I was a unit aide and spent 12 hours a day at work with Patricia ‘beautiful’ i’d always call her. I loved her dearly. I was with her from the first of her time at Spectrum continuing care. We listened to a lot of Christmas music and Patricia would hum along. I painted her nails and she adored them. In such a short amount of time we became close. I love her and am sending hugs and prayers to her loved ones. She was a godly women.

To have had her as friend and colleague has been a blessing beyond all measure. Her compassion, her sense of justice, her humor, her presence in my life . . . treasures, indeed. What a journey it was, dear friend . . . and to travel this life with you . . . what a gift.

I had the privilege of working with Pat at Grand Valley. Her focus was always what would serve students best. While that may have the ring of a cliche, she embodied it. Her counsel and her actions were always consistent with that fundamental focus. Those who had the opportunity to know her experienced her good work and her warmth. Many many more benefited from her work, who never saw her or knew of her importance.

I consider myself fortunate to have worked for and with Pat. I'm even more grateful for her friendship and warm heart. She has made me a better person. Her passion for education and lifelong learning have shaped a more fair and equitable community and we are all richer for it. She will be missed but her legacy will live on.

Incredible friend, mentor, educator, advocate, leader, and most of all an incredible human. Thank you Dr. Oldt. Our community is a better place because of your ever present devotion. We will carry on your work.

Thank you for the inspiration, kindness, and wisdom you shared while being a fellow colleague. Never forgotten.

Pat was an amazing woman and Mentor. She was an outstanding leader and colleague as we worked together at Grand Valley State University. Sending you love and prayers.
