Coincidence? Yesterday I thought of Pat strongly, and pulled out a pendant necklace that Pat had given me years ago to wear. The heart remembers?

I'm so sorry to learn of this tremendous loss. She had such grace and inner strength. We will miss her.

Patty Palmieri had a huge influence on me and my life. She taught Russian history at St. Ann's School in Brooklyn and her class sparked my interest in foreign affairs that has endured to this day.

I am so sad about this news. I first met Pat and her good friend and Hunter classmate, Paula Kaplowitz (RIP), during their first semester in graduate school at U of Michigan in the fall of 1967. They, of course, were history majors while I was in my senior year as a physics major. We were taking a class together in Russian translation. Both women were extremely bright and outgoing and were accustomed to exceling. So, when they noticed that I, a mere undergraduate, was beating them (only...

I couldn't help imagining how Pat would feel about the recent Supreme Court decision on Roe-Wade - a big step backwards for all she believed in.

Although I heard about Pat's passing a few weeks after she had, I sadly am only now writing on here. I was a TA for Pat at Columbia's Teachers College and subsequently helped her for a few years after with her courses. I think I even took the above photo for her course profiles. I have two...

It's hard to believe that Pat is no longer here with us, nevermind that it's been a year. I admired Pat's dedication to women's history and her indefatigable research for her book. She always had some new bit of interesting info to share, and I hope somehow someone will be able to bring her book to fruition. After Pat moved to Cambridge, we weren't able to get together as often as when she lived in NYC. But, small world, we each had a sibling in Pt. Jeff, and would met for brunch when we...

I often think of Pat regaling me with stories about her research adventures and laughing with her. She was full of energy until 9 pm. then had to tune out of the world. It was too early for me so I did a lot of tiptoeing when she visited. I think she's still sending that morning energy through memories.
