In 1947, Patricia Ann Pate, was the fifth child of Swanger T. Gibson, Sr. and Myrtis H. Gibson born in Birmingham, AL.

Affectionately known as “Pat” was a 1965 graduate of the “Mighty, Mighty” Roosevelt High School Panthers. Pat worked as an Operating Room Technician at St. Margaret Hospital. She eventually became a Central Service Technician and Medical Distribution Inventory Clerk at Methodist Hospital – North Lake Campus for over 27 years.

She accepted Christ at a very early age. She was a faithful and active member of Open Door Church. In 1981 she became an ordained minister at Spirit Lead Ministries. Embassies of Christ became her Church home under Cedric and Joyce Oliver, dear friends of over 50 years.

Pat loved her family. She loved to entertain, cook/bake, travel, work in her garden and dance. She won her 1st trophy for dancing in High School where she was known as “Chicken”. Her phone and home were open to family and friends alike. Entertaining people at her home was a staple of her existence. Pat was a well-known Stepping Instructor with her husband, Tony, in Indiana and Illinois.

Stepping was the perfect outlet for one of her greatest passions, expressing her style and grace through her attire. Whether that entailed finding the best deals for a signature look or coordinating from head-to-toe, if it wasn’t eye catching it wasn’t Pat. She loved hard and she loved long. That love was felt by many. Pat was outspoken, friendly, funny, down-to-earth, and sharp (and sometimes that might be with her words).

Tony and Pat were joined in matrimony November 18th, 2010. This union included their beloved animals of 1 bird, 2 dogs, and 1 cat throughout the years. They were able to intertwine the business of dance with their passion for dance. Pat will be forever loved and missed by Tony.

She is proceeded in death by her mother, Myrtis H. Gibson; father, Swanger T. Gibson, Sr. and stepmother, Princella Gibson; brother, Alfonza Gibson; and sister-in-law, Marian B. Gibson.

Pat is survived by her loving husband, Edward A. “Tony” Pate; only son, DeAndre’ (DeLynn Y.) S. P. Hudson; blessed with 10 grandchildren: Marcus (Courtney) A. Jones, Evonne (Dante' D. Branch) D. Hudson, DeAndre’ S. P. Hudson, II, Djehuty A. M. Hudson, Daniel B. Z. Hudson, Darin E. A. Hudson, Darius J. E. Hudson, Harmony E. D. Hudson, Melody E. D. Hudson, and Donovan L. Z.
