Cox Collins Funeral Home - Mullins Obituary

Mrs. Patricia “Patsy” Thomas McRae, 86, widow of Victor Billy McRae, gained her new body, during the afternoon of Wednesday, July 31, 2024, after a brief illness, at McLeod Medical Center of Dillon.

Ms. Patsy, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, was born on August 17, 1937, in Marion County, South Carolina, a daughter of the late J.R. Thomas and the late Roberta McLeod Thomas. Patsy grew up in the Mullins Community, attending and graduating from Mullins High School. Following graduation Patsy attended Winthrop College. Patsy met and married Billy, settled and started a family. During her duties as mother, she worked and retired with the Marion County School District and had worked with the Mullins Library. Over the years, Ms. Patsy was a member of the Playmakers and the Sweet Adelines here in town. She loved music and reading. Being the Southern Lady she was, Ms. Patsy loved to cook and enjoy Southern comfort food. Although she did have her Traditional Southern Flair, she had a lil’ exotic side to her as well, she loved to try bold new recipes from different locales and was always up for a new adventure at various restaurants to try new dishes. Patsy was a “Bonus Mom” to many, she loved everybody, and her door was always open for friends and anyone who needed her. Ms. Patsy was a member of the Mullins Presbyterian Church.

Patsy is survived by her loving daughters: Vicki Britt and her husband, Michael, of Mullins, Donna McRae of Hartsville, and Debbie Atkinson and her husband, Donnie, of Mullins; her sweet grandbabies: Cody (Page) Britt, Jesse (Cristin) Britt, D.J. Atkinson, and Victoria Atkinson; her precious great grandbabies: Landon Britt, Corbin Britt, and Langley Ray Britt; her sister, Rena (Al) Agnew of Mullins; her brother, Smitty McArthur of Inman; many special nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Milo.

Mrs. McRae was predeceased by her grandmother, Ora Roberts Thomas, and her two sisters, Robbie White and Estelle Solomon.

A memorial service for Mrs. McRae will be held Sunday, August 4, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. in the Sanctuary of Mullins Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Jason Brewer officiating. The family will speak with guests following the service there at the church. Cox-Collins Funeral Home is assisting the family during this time.

Memorials may be made in Ms. Patsy’s honor to the Mullins Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 671, Mullins, SC 29574.
