I was asked to post this in the hopes it would be read at Pat's service. The morning of Presidential inaugurations, Representatives host a breakfast for their constituents. I met two young women (about 15 or 16), riding the metro. They were from PA and had worked on Harris Wofford's campaign (he - like myself - were advocates for health care reform). They asked who I was going to see, and I responded "Pat Schroeder". In unison, the two swooned in high pitched voices "Paaaaat...

My dear Aunt Pat, how I miss your very fun way you lived in this world, as well as the vigorous way you had with this world! You are, and always will be a shiny light around this world because of your efforts. To me though, you will always be my Aunt, from bringing toys and silly clown noses on cruises to making sure you were there to say goodbye to my parents last June. I've NEVER met another elected official that motivated our youth like Pat Schroeder! Kids would be at a breakfast at 6am just to visit with her and hear her speak. I hope to share a story about two young women from PA who met her in DC. She was always graceful and welcoming and what a role model for young women! God Bless, Pat.
