Patricia Bridget Slomka
(nee McIntyre)
of Westlake, former resident of Stark County, lost her courageous battle with cancer on Monday Jan. 17 at the age of 61.  "Pat", or "Patti", as her friends knew her, retired from Heinens in 2010. Prior to Heinens, she had dedicated most of her work life to Forest City Enterprises (Canton Center Mall). Pat loved gambling, her last trip being to Mountaineer during the recent holidays. She loved her beautiful grandchildren, and spending time with her sisters as she looked forward to their yearly vacation. Proceeded in death by her parents, John F. McIntyre and Harriet McIntyre (nee Nickel), and her sisters, Maureen McIntyre and Francine Cassidy (nee McIntyre).
Leaving behind to cherish her memory is her daughter, Amy Slomka (John Slish) of North Canton  and son, Chris Slomka and his wife, Jessica Slomka (nee Thornburg) of Rocky River, who was a Godsend in her last days; grandchildren, Courtney Mchenry (North Canton), Connor Mchenry (North Canton), Zach Mchenry (North Canton), and little Colin Christopher Slomka (Rocky River); her sisters, Mary Kocsis (John), Joyce McAndrews (Mike), Sister Kathleen McIntyre, Jay McIntyre (Maureen); brother-in- law, John Cassidy (husband to the late Francine Cassidy); and the one friend she never forgot, "Eddie" Slomka.  She will be sadly missed as her strength and love were an inspiration and will  live in all of us.  She will always be the wind beneath our wings.

Not sure what to say?

In 4 days, it will be 10 years. And sometimes it still feels like yesterday. It hurts my heart that you´re not on this earth enjoying your grandbabies with us. But I understand you are in a much better place not in pain. Sending love above

I AM VERY SORRY FOR THE LOSS OF YOUR MOM I WILL MISS HER

I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.

Chris and Amy, I am so very sorry for your loss. I loved every minute of my six years working with your mom. She spoke often of her wonderful family and her love and pride in you was always first and foremost in her thoughts. She was so kind and had a great sense of humor about everything. My mom wil forever live in our hearts. My brother and i were lucky to spend her last days with her. There is no greater woman than our mom. Thank you to all for your wishes and prayers. This time has been very tough but we believe she is watching down and still protecting us.

Many thanks to all of you for your nice messages. This is a very difficult time for Amy and me. My mom died peacefully as Amy and I held her hands. We are blessed to have been with her to the very end.
