Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Sioux Falls Obituary

83, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025, at Dougherty Hospice House.

Visitation will be at Heritage Funeral Home on Sunday, May 4, 2025, beginning at 3:00 p.m. with a wake service starting at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. with lunch and fellowship to follow.

Born on June 11, 1941, in Mitchell, SD, Pat was raised in Ethan, SD before moving with her family to Epiphany, SD. She graduated from Fedora High School and went on to pursue a lifelong career in telecommunications. Beginning as a telephone operator with Northwestern Bell, Pat advanced through the company over the years, eventually retiring as a Property Manager with Qwest. Her dedication, leadership, and professionalism left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.

On August 25, 1962, Pat married the love of her life, William “Bill” Walz and together they welcomed three wonderful daughters, Vicki, Pamela and Lisa. Their 63-year marriage was a testament to deep love, unwavering support, and a lifetime of cherished memories shared with family.

Pat’s greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved most—her family and friends. Whether golfing, playing cards or mahjong, visiting Active Generations, or hosting lively gatherings, Pat’s warmth, wit, and sense of humor made every occasion special. Her home was always a place full of laughter and connection.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Bill Walz; daughters Vicki Kramer (Kendall) and Lisa Bossman (Colin); grandchildren Neal Kramer (Emily), McKayla Hasche (Cameron), and Ben Kramer (Elizabeth); and great-grandchildren Reeve Hasche and Kyla Kramer.

Pat is also survived by her siblings: Elaine Neugebauer, Joyce Christensen, Tony Erpenbach (Joyce), Connie Kurth (Jerry), Darlene Muth (Dick), and Joe Erpenbach (Barb); as well as sisters-in-law: Pat Erpenbach, Joan Erpenbach, and Winnie Behrend. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Pamela Walz; her parents, Anthony and Catherine Erpenbach; in-laws Ben and Mae Walz; brothers John (Theresa), Allan (Pat), and James (Joan) Erpenbach; and extended family members Theresa Erpenbach (John), Luvern Neugebauer (Elaine), Dick Christensen (Joyce), and Charlie Behrend (Winnie).

Pat will be remembered for her strength, deep devotion to family, generous heart, and the joy she brought into every room. Her legacy of love, laughter, and resilience lives on in all who knew and loved her. And whenever you enjoy a strawberry shake, think of Pat—with a smile.
