Not sure what to say?

John,

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You and Sandy made a wonderful couple. I was speaking with a friend today and we talked about how she had amazing drive and stamina; her heart and her intellect were deep. I will always appreciate the time I spent with her working on the Detroit Observatory restoration. The observatory is a spectacular legacy to her efforts, but beyond the obvious I remember her concern for the horse chestnut tree, for the chipmonks that burrowed on the...

Dear John:

I cannot imagine what Sandy and you went through in recent years, jostled between hope and despair. Yet, based on what you told me about Sandy, I hope you you can draw strength from a fullfilling shared life and even from the mutual support and growth during her three year struggle.

Peter

Dear John, dear Mrs & Mr Whitesell,
we are so sad to hear about Sandys passing away. We send you our deepest sympathy and whish you all the best for the next time. I always liked to diskuss the familyhistory with Sandy. We will keep her as a very kind woman and a good friend in our heart.

Sandy and I always discussed our common interest in birds when I had the opportunity to see her with my friend and colleague John Wolfe at company events in the Ann Arbor area. I didn’t know Sandy well, and I am not very much aware of her many accomplishments, but I have very fond memories of these discussions and Sandy’s enthusiasm, spirit and courage.

I will think of Sandy every time I walk by the Observatory. The meticulous restoration of this instituional jewel is a fitting tribute to her memory. My thoughts are with you, John, at this difficult time. Connie Bridges

John,
I know you must be deeply saddened by Sandy's passing and your grief will not ease soon, But Sandy was such a kind, generous, and intelligent person that your time with her must have been extremely happy and fulfilling. Try to keep all of those memories in your thoughts through this difficult time and beyond.

I knew Sandy through her wonderful husband John Wolfe- a good friend and colleague at work. She was a delightful and interesting person and was deeply loved by John. I am greatly saddened by her passing; I gain comfort that she is now released from the pain of her long illness.

I extend my deepest sympathy and condolence to John and to Sandy's family for their loss.
