Swartz Funeral Home - Flint Obituary

KING, Patrick (Pat) Joseph – Of Fenton, passed away on November 10, 2020 at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Pat was born in Flint, Michigan on March 22, 1951 to parents Anna and Irving King.

Pat is survived and will forever be remembered by his wife Joyce (Love) King and children, Patrick King, Jean King Simon, son-in-law, Ryan Simon, three grandchildren: Novi, Henry and Jasper Simon. He also is survived by His sister Mary Noleta King Bateman and husband Robert, brother Louis King, in-laws Karen and Tom Kessel, Jean and Stu Rose, Rob Love, Bruce Love, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pat grew up In Burton, Michigan and later resided in Fenton, Michigan. He graduated from Holy Redeemer School in 1969. He then received his bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University. He started his own business after graduating and ran Superior Skirting and Awning in Burton for nearly 40 years with his brother Lou.

Pat was a devoted husband and father. Joyce and Pat were married June 25, 1983. His family gave him great joy, especially on family vacations or at their cottage on the lake. He loved coaching and attending his family’s activities.

He lived life to the fullest. He developed a love for sports and competing early in life. He looked forward every week to golfing in his league with his good friends and cousins and even had a hole in one. Pat also loved cards and was a long-standing member of a men’s Euchre league- Ring the bell! Another rare accomplishment he achieved was his swim across Mullett Lake, about a four-mile swim following his brother Irv in a row boat. Pat was an avid hunter going on his annual pheasant hunting trip to Nebraska and South Dakota. There was also an annual fishing trip to Canada that he looked forward to with family and friends. His sense of humor, loyalty, and generosity were always appreciated. He will be missed.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Irving King, brother Irving King and sister-in-law, Gail Kennedy.

Not sure what to say?

I'm very sad to hear this! I learned a lot about life and sports from Pat growing up in our neighborhood! Played a LOT of sports with the King family over the years! Pat is a great guy ! Fun loving, passionate and always up for anything! We fell out of touch as we started our families, but i will always cherish the memories! May he rest in peace. Prayers from White Lake!

So sorry and sincere condolences to you Joyce, Patrick and Jeannie. I'll cherish the fond memories of "Big Pat". He always made me laugh. I'll never forget our families vacation in Hilton Head. You all take care and God Bless. May Pat rest in peace.

I'm thinking of you guys on this sad Tuesday as we say good bye to Pat. We played a lot of Euchre and Buckets with Pat and Irv. It was Pat who restrained me from pounding on Jim and Lou when they tricked me into bursting in on a sleeping Uncle Vince while deer hunting at Mullet Lake many years ago.

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

I am glad to have met Pat. Sorry for your loss

Incredible! The angels are rejoicing as they have received a gift! The gift of a man, a humble, kind and loving man! The reception is filled with wonderous spirit as the loved ones that entered before him have their arms wide open with Jubilation as they receive him! With great love Johnny McDaid and the entire Nemechek/ McDaid family

Condolences love the Irving families Christine, Mary, Catherine, Brad, and Michael.

I’ll always cherish the great times we had growing up. From playing little league baseball to playing basketball together after high school. He wasn’t just my friend, he was my best buddy. RIP Pat
