Not sure what to say?

Kay, I am so sorry for your loss. In the mid 1990s Pat taught me complex analysis, but so much more. He was really a friend, not just a teacher. As kind-hearted a person as one can find, Pat was supportive of me at all times. I spoke to him much more than to any other professor in Madison, and in my numerous visits back to Madison since, he was always there in my talks, at the lunches and dinners. Whenever I interact with students, I try to emulate the way Pat interacted with me; treat...

Dear Pat, I just learnt the sad news, my condolences to your family, may God rest you in peace, you helped me a lot when I was preparing the qualifying exam, I would not be a professor now if you did not quide me. You were not only a good mathematician but also a great and good person with lots of sense of humor. May God also rest Prof Frank Forelli, I have been very thankful to both of you. Prof Dr Ersin Ozugurlu, Istanbul Technical University [email protected]

Patrick proved many deep theorems in harmonic analysis. Many mathematicians would have bragged extensively if they had proved these results. But Pat was very modest and hardly ever spoke about his deep results.

As one of Pat's Hospice nurses, he taught me so much. Many of my memories include playing barber shop where we'd play jazz music and Pat would let me shave him. He had the greatest smile. I'll miss you, Pat, but am glad the suffering is over. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your life. It was such an Honore serving you and your family.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
