Not sure what to say?

I first met Pat when I got my very first horse, a lovely Morgan mare. I think I was around 11, 12, maybe 13 (it was many moons ago). Our family was originally planning to move to Valley Center, but plans changed and we stayed in Poway. Pat made the trip down the hill to care for my mare's feet. He put her front hooves in shoes with heels, like a fancy lady! Lol. Actually, it was to encourage her to pick her feet up rather than shuffle and stumble along. He kept us on schedule, every few...

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Pat's recent passing. Aside from caring for my horses for over ten years, Pat was a wonderful friend and mentor to me on all things equine. He always spoke of his love for his wife, children and his Church. I expected to see him this week, and enjoy our monthly chat about where to eat, what movie to see or what great book there was to read. My heart goes out to his family, and I pray that they know as I do that he is with God now.

Pat was my ferrier for my horse (DeeDee) he was the absolute BEST he always made me smile everytime i saw him.He had so much knowledge when it came to caring for horses he was the one i would call if i had a question.Myself and my horse are going to MISS him dearly there will never be a ferrier with so much HEART.I will never forget him.My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. This is truly a traggic loss for all who knew him and a big loss to all the horses that loved and trusted him.

We first met Pat and Nancy in 1977, they were our neighbors and took care of the shoeing on our horses. Pat and I went on several group trail rides together and always had a good time. Pat was a honest hard working man, and will be a great loss to Nancy and Valley Center. Denny Heinen

Pat was my ferrier for my first horse in 1976, I was 13 years old. So it was natural to reconnect and have him as my ferrier when I returned to Valley Center in 2003. I liked that he would put me in his day planner, then call every couple of months, very politely reminding me it "was that time again". I would always leave a check under the mat outside my front door for him. I love that hometown feeling of trusting your neighbor and I got that with him. My husband tells me Pat had an assistant...

We have known Pat for several years He has always been a hard worker and has help us if there was ever a horse problem There is not much more to say Pat was a truely honest man.
" He will truly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Pat

The Crook Family (Escondido)

Pat Barrett was a familiar face in Valley Center. His enthusiasm for Arabian horses was contagious.
Our sympathy for his family. He left a great testimony behind in his children and grandchildren.

I am so glad I got to know the man Pat Barrett. He became my friend from the instant we met. I loved horses & I wanted some, he made it happen & stayed with me the whole step of the way. I helped him with his golf cart & he helped me w/ the horses. A truely honest man. He will be missed & remembered fondly
