Patrick Scott Bateman, age 58 died in a car accident on July 19, 2017.

Scott is preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Bateman. He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores Owens Bateman; step son, Alfred Lester III; mother, Patti Pruett Bateman; father, Thomas E. Bateman; stepmother, Barbara Shannon Bateman; brothers, Christopher Bateman, Paul Bateman (Karen) and Rhett Bateman; sister-in-law, Susie Bateman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He attended Father Ryan High School and Middle Tennessee State University. Scott was an outstanding football and wrestling athlete.

Scott was a very loving husband, son, brother and friend. He cared deeply for his family and would do anything for anyone. His land, dogs and fishing in his lake gave him much pleasure.

A visitation will be held at Marshall Donnelly Combs Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 25th from 10:00-2:00 and 4:00-8:00.

I was so saddened and shocked to hear of the passing of Scott. I met Scott and Rhett many years ago, and though I did not get to know Scott really well, I knew him well enough to appreciate his smile and his funny personality. I ran into Scott periodically throughout the years, and he was always pleasant when we did run into one another. I also knew Paul and his wife through wrestling at Father Ryan because their son (Aaron, I believe) wrestled with my stepson (Jimmy Hiller). And I just saw Rhett a couple of months ago at Green Hills Grille. I would just like to offer my condolences to the entire Bateman family. May God relieve your pain and help you through this difficult time.
