He left an impression that has lasted me some 55 years now. He was tough, very straigtforward and full of zest and energy. A good example for me.

May Father Brannan rest in eternal peace! He was the consummate classicist and scholar, a faithful Jesuit priest and a crusty character as well. Father Brannan was ever kind to me during my years at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. I will never forget is gentle byword to me: "coraggio, fratello!"

R.I.P. Father Brannan. I will never forget the mercy you showed my years ago on my Greek final. That was true mercy. You were the last of the great, orthodox Jesuits. We will never see the likes of you again. A true Jesuit like you would have made a great pope.
