Not sure what to say?

I thought about Dr. Cabe today and wanted to share this here. Maybe someone who misses him will see this, and they will smile. Anyone who knew Dr. Cabe knew that a compliment from him was certainly well earned. He influenced me in ways that I never even fully realized... Until my dog - literally - ate my homework. Sending love and light to all who read this.

Patrick Cabe was probably the most caring and influential professor that I encountered in all my academic career; sadly I didn´t know it until I had enough understanding to look critically at my own life. Thank God that though I didn´t get to personally thank Pat for his words of wisdom that took root in my soul; I will surely be given a perfect opportunity in a beautiful place called Heaven. See you then Pat.

I just found this. I was one of Dr Cabe's students at uncp in the early 2000s. I'll always remember him drilling us on the definition of psychology. I had a lot of classes with him as a psych major. He was a wonderful teacher and person. I'm sad I didn't get to tell him that last year I finally started my dream job as a state examiner. Law psychology research math and other stats. I think he'd be proud and that means a lot to me.

Dear Suellen:

I am so sorry to hear this news about Pat.

Pat and I had become friends and (recently) research collaborators.

One of my great joys of attending conferences was the expectation of getting together with Pat.

Pat was witty, wise, and unfailingly trying to be helpful with colleagues and students.

I think from Pat's perspective, the greatest compliment I can pass along about Pat is that he was the model of what we want our psychologist-scientists...

Sullen-

I am so sorry for you, that Pat has left us. He will be missed by so many friends and colleagues. He was the most sincerely gentle, thoughtful and kind fellow. He had great curiosity about life and nature and many interesting ideas that he was always eager to share and discuss. He also greatly enjoyed and appreciated the ideas of others and spending time reflecting on them. He was unfailingly modest and extremely able and creative. I had so many interesting and...

Suellen, I am sad to hear of Pat's passing. I always enjoyed his, and your company and the Cabes have been missed at UNCP. Be strong and keep those many great memories of Pat in your heart.

Suellen, I am so very sorry for your loss. I was saddened to hear of Pat's passing. I once had the opportunity to collaborate with him on a paper, and he was a pleasure to work with. In 1995 he organized a symposium at an international conference, and he asked me to speak in it. This was a milestone for me at a very early stage in my career, and for this I will be eternally grateful. His research has always been an inspiration to me, and his work has greatly influenced mine. He was a friend,...

Suellen,

Our best thoughts to you with the passing of Pat and I had a great deal of respect and appreciation of and for his positive many contributions to UNCP. Our best to you always,Charles Jenkins

So sorry to hear of your loss. What an accomplished man he was, and a friendly, helpful presence on campus to newbies like me!
