Patrick Caccavelli, 90, of Groton, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London.


 


Pat was born in New York City on June 11, 1932, the son of Michele and Angelina (Cognidore) Caccavelli.  He married his loving wife Carol in New York City in 1958.  Pat & Carol celebrated 56 years together until her passing in 2014.  


 


He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He graduated from New York City Technical College in 1955 and was employed by several defense contractors.  He had a long career at General Dynamics, Electric Boat where he walked to work daily as a senior designer before retiring.


 


He enjoyed ballroom dancing, swimming at Eastern Point Beach, activities at the Groton Senior Center, and family gatherings.  He had a lifetime interest in health and fitness.  He was a kind and loving husband and father.  He lived an honorable life, and his family is proud to call him theirs.


 


Pat is survived by his four daughters, Lauretta Perry (Thomas) of S. Dartmouth MA, Pamela Greenleaf (Glenn decd.) of N. Stonington, Carol McAuliffe (Rick) of Mystic, and Katey Caccavelli (Clay Merritts) of Groton. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, T.J. Perry, Melanie Greenleaf (John Hillyer), Lia Maiorano (Glenn), Kerrianne Costello (Myles), and Briana Misurelli (Michael), as well as his great-grandchildren, Glenn, Luke, Connor, and Angelina.


 


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 56 Sacred Heart Dr., Groton on Thursday, January 5. Interment with military honors will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, Mystic.
