Once Patrick and I were driving down a highway, and we passed a sad scene - a dog had been hit by a car and his body was surrounded by a group of distraught people. I took in the scene, and tried to continue the conversation, but fell silent, as I was overcome with emotion. He kindly acknowledged my emotion, and I realized he was feeling exactly the same way, which really touched me. The thing I remember most about him was his empathy.
