GAZES, Patrick Mercifully on June 12, 2008, Pat Christopher Gazes passed due to natural causes. Mr. Gazes was born July 18, 1918 in St. Matthews, SC a son of Christopher James and Elpis Voutsinas Gazes. He moved to Charleston two years later and lived here for 88 years. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Navy during WW II seeing action in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean. He attended Murray Vocational School and retired from Provident Life and Accident Insurance Company after 40 years of faithful service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Gazes; his sisters, Margaret Morris and Nickie Pappas; and his brother, James Gazes. Mr. Gazes is survived by his two sons, Jerry Gazes and his wife Karen and Dennis and Meg Gazes; his brother, Dr. Peter C. Gazes and his wife Athena; numerous nephews and nieces, both here in Charleston and in Alabama He is also survived by four sisters-in-law, Jimmie Edwards and her husband Thomas, Dot Sanders and her husband Emmett, Nannie Bee Corum and Ruth Gazes. The family will receive friends on Monday evening at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy., from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Trisagion Service will begin at 8:00 pm. The relatives and friends of Pat C. Gazes are invited to attend his funeral service at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity at 30 Race Street. Burial will be in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058 or the Fr.
