Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Patrick J. Gibbs, Jr., 21, a resident of Davenport, will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 422 E. 10th St., Davenport. Burial will take place in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal with military honors. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main St., Davenport. Pat passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010 at his residence after a brief illness. Patrick Joseph Gibbs, Jr. was born on January 31, 1988 in Davenport, a son of Patrick and Andrea (Rescon) Gibbs. He attended West High School and enrolled in the U.S. Army in 2005. While in the Army he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rochville University with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. Pat served almost 5 dedicated years in the Army including two tours of duty in Iraq. He truly found his niche in the Army. Memorials may be made to the family to establish a memorial in Pat's name. Pat is survived by his fiancée, Savannah Huelsman, Mason, Ohio; children, Aidan Gibbs and Jayden Gibbs; parents, Pat and Andrea Gibbs; a brother, Brian Gibbs; a sister, Corrinne Gibbs, all of Davenport, his grandfather, Daniel S. Gibbs; nieces, Renee Christine Gibbs and Layla Kirsten Emmer; uncles and aunts, James (Leslie) Gibbs, Gregory (Jennifer) Gibbs, Mary Ann (Richard) Schram, John (Maureen) Gibbs, Michael (Sally) Gibbs, and Mary Ellen Gibbs; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Rita Marie Gibbs, and his uncle, Daniel Gibbs, Jr. May they rest in peace.

Pat & Andrea and family: I was shocked and saddened to read about Patrick in today's paper. I still remember him as he was in 3rd grade at Hayes School. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
