I remember as a young boy my brother Tom and I would spend the night at Pat's house. We would run the neighborhood with him and Bobby and have just the most wonderful times at 1313 Ridgeway.I never thought of him as my cousin but as a brother. What a wonderful man. My sincerest condolences to his family.Love,Tim McGuire

When I saw that Dr. Patrick Hess had died I was very sad thinking it was my Dr. Hess, then I realized it was his son. So, to my Dr. Hess, I want you to know how sorry I am for you and your family. It is so hard to lose a child, no matter what his age. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I met Patrick when we were very young and he was already an exceptional person -brilliant, kind, funny.

It seems that he lived a happy and productive life with many family and friends who loved him. I'm sorry for your loss.

I was truly sorry to learn of Pat's passing and wish to extend my condolences to his family. I knew him through the Clinical Ligand Assay Society and through our profession of clinical biochemistry.I had great respect for Pat as a truly delightful human being as well as a scientist. He was always able to think "outside the box" about a problem to be solved. I will miss seeing his great smile and warmth at the conferences we attended each year.

On behalf of ALL the past members of CLAS we send our deepest condolences. We remember Pat with love and respect. He was a long-standing and faithful member, Past President , (2001), Annual Meeting Chair(1997) and served in many other capacities. We were looking forward to seeing him this weekend when we attend the AACC.
He will be missed sorely and our hearts go out to you his family. He's gone but NEVER forgotten.

I give you this one thought to keep--
I am with you still- I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints in the snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in circle flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as...
