Not sure what to say?

Everyone in their lifetime crosses paths with someone whose influence alters their thinking or behavior. Such a man was Pat Ickes. His drive for excellence was pervasive, and he influenced others to perform their best. His demeanor was so uplifting that he brought sun to an overcast day. He brought life to music and music to life. He so willingly shared his talents, and he did so in such a caring manner. I feel so fortunate to have shared a part of his life, and I will carry his memory...

I was saddened when I first heard of Pat's illness and later of his passing. He was an inspirational person. I recall the first time I met Pat; my mother was in "Big River" at the Players Guild of Canton, for which he musically directed, and she introduced me to him because she thought so much of his talents. Later I began taking his vocal classes at the PG, and I even took private lessons for a while, when able, but there were so many things that made him a joy to my life. Not only did...

Dear Linda, Tish, Chad, and Family,
You have my sympathy for the loss of Pat. He was truly a special person. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Jean (Zurbrugg) Wilhelmi

Though I attended Pat's calling hours & spoke briefly w/ Linda, Tish & Thomas, I also wanted to pay my deepest respects this way. Pat was, in my opinion, the epitome of a great educator, taking a student from where he was & teaching him how to expand on that, always having the confidence factor built in along the way. When even the tiniest success was achieved, his joy was always for the student, not himself. He helped my son & me through our vocal challenges, & I incorporate his mentoring...

I met Pat the Firehouse Theater in Alliance. From the very first moment, his joy of life and music was a shining example for everyone. Through him I learned to trust in myself and become a stronger singer (and person). I had not seen Pat in several years, but often thought of him while listening to my favorite show music. I loved Pat very much and am saddened that he was called away from us so soon. The angels will be singing better in heaven. Take care Tish, and everyone.

I was very saddened to learn of Pat's passing. I have known Pat since our college days working at the Ashland Oil Refinery during the summers. Pat and I keps in contact over the years as I am a church musician also. Recently I have been working with Pat at Jackson High School where I manage the auditorium.
I have many fond memories of the times spent with Pat and he will be greatly missed.
My thoughts and prayers go to his family.

May the LORD be with you and your family and may you find healing in the memories and the love you share.

Dear Linda and family,
I was deeply saddened to learn of Pat’s passing. I have many fond memories of the work we did together at the First Presbyterian Church in Minerva. Any time spent in his company was joyful. His humor, his optimism, his fine musicanship, and his faith in God shone through everything he did. Pat touched so many lives during his short time on earth. I’ll never forget his kindness toward me when he began as organist at the Minerva church. He invited me into your...
