Chambers Funeral Homes - Cleveland Obituary

PATRICK MARTIN “PAT” FLANAGAN passed away November 8, 2023 at the age of 77 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Beloved husband of Elizabeth; loving father of Erin Webber (Scott), Patrick (Heather), Caitlin Elliott (Todd), Conor; Cherished brother of Philip (Laurie), Mary Kathryn, Maureen Hendricks (Joseph), Edward, Marianne, James, Madonna Forquer (James), Michael (Mary); Devoted grandfather of Shane and Bridget Webber, Tommy and Luke Flanagan, Hadley and Collins Elliott; Dearest uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend.

Patrick was the son of the late Edward and Marguerite Flanagan born on September 23, 1946.  He graduated from Brecksville High School in 1964 and was a founding member of the Marauders.  At Ohio Wesleyan University he was the (self-proclaimed) star center of the 1967 OAC Football Conference Champions, leading them to an undefeated season.  Upon graduation from OWU he taught and coached football at Strongsville High School while attending Cleveland Marshall College of Law. Pat was a practicing attorney for over 50 years.   His love for coaching, Clifton Beach and Cleveland sports was unmatched.  Most importantly, he led a faith-filled life and loved his family and friends unconditionally. His final wish was to donate his body to the Cleveland Clinic for research purposes. Special thanks to The Hospice of the Western Reserve and Rae-Ann Rehabilitation Center. Pat was a remarkable man, friend to many, and will be dearly missed.

Memorial Mass Tuesday, November 14, St. Angela Merici Church (20970 Lorain Rd., Fairview Park) at 10 A.M. Not sure what to say?

Betsy and Family, Very sorry to hear of your loss. I did not know your husband but it sounds like he was quite a guy. I am sure he will be sorely missed. Trudi Reeder, Fellow Garden Club member

Pat and I were classmates. Many fond memories. He was a great guy! RIP Pat.

Pat, So very sorry to learn of the passing of your father. During the time that you and our son Kevin played with the Junior Barons we spent a lot of hockey games with your dad. We worked time clocks, announcing, keeping score and penalty box duties. Your father was always a gentleman, a very nice man. May he Rest in Peace. Bill and Kathy Leonard, Avon, Oh.

Betsy,
Thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Your devotion did not go unnoticed. Bless you.

Elizabeth and family,
Please accept my sincere condolences on Pat’s death.
Pat and I were classmates and teammates at OWU. I last saw Pat at our football reunion several years ago. We had a nice long talk and it was then he spoke of his recent diagnosis with Alzheimer’s. We reminisced about our days at OWU and playing football. And he spoke so lovingly about his family. While not close friends over the years, it was always great to see him at reunions. You couldn’t help but love...

Brett and I send our thoughts and prayers on the loss of Pat. Hope you find comfort in warm memories in the arms of your loving family.
