Not sure what to say?

Well, Pat, it has been almost a year now since you left us for greener pastures. I think about you frequently. One memory which pops into mind is our trip from California to Michigan via Montana in 1992. We stopped in Livingston in Montana to visit our old friends, Lee and Linda Dreyer. Anyhow, we stopped at a rest area with a creek running through it. You were out of the truck with your fishing rod and caught two nice trout by the time I got ready to fish. There was a spiritual element...

I knew Pat from AA, and I called him the Father of AA. He sure was an inspiration to me. He helped me through alot of things. I live in Bradley House where he lived and I have known him for about 5 yrs. He would sometimes come to my apartment and say "Are you Hungry?" And he would say let's order a pizza.......lol. He was a fantastic Man. I enjoyed being around him. He loved to sing. I will surely miss him alot. God Bless You and Your Family. Love Ya Pat.

TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVED SIGNED THE GUEST BOOK-THANKS. I LEARNED A LOT MORE ABOUT MY BROTHER PAT!!!! IF YOU WANT TO CONTACT ME CALL 989-892-3894. MARY ANN O'BRIEN

I just learned of Pat's passing today. How fitting that he died on my 22nd AAnniversary. I will never forget Pat O'Brien's kindness. I met Pat at the first Palm Springs conference in 1987. It was my first AA conference outside of San Francisco and I was scared and traveling alone. I ran into Pat and Scotty at a restaurant my first night and they took me under their wing. I will never forget Pat's kindness and the laughter that we shared that weekend. I won't say we became close friends,...

My heartfelt condolences to dear Pat's family. I am one of his AA friends from San Francisco who treasure the times that I spent with him in our fellowship here beginning in 1974. I just noticed that Pat and I almost shared the same 1943 birthday: his was the 23rd of January and mine is the 27th. No wonder we got along so well: we're both Aquarians who live in our very own la la land. Pat was a crucial part of my early sobriety, and I will always be grateful to him for his sweet kindness to...

My heart goes out to Pat's family. I'm also a long-time friend of Patrick O'Brien. I had only heard of his passing about a week ago. Was planning on seeing him this coming June (he was unaware of this) as my wife and I were going to visit work friends of hers in Indianapolis. My long association with Pat began in 1972, San Francisco. Met him at the old Alano Club on Grant Street one rainy evening. I was in a lot of trouble back then and needed a place to stay. We hit it off, I guess, as...

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

I wanted to add a couple of Pat O'Brien stories. Once, when we were kids, we were fishing on the banks of the mighty Saginaw and Pat caught a bullhead. While trying to remove the hook from the Bullheads mouth, he somehow slipped and his knee landed right on the bullheads sharp, pointed spine.
Pat was in pain. We offered help carry him home, but his just made him mad as a hornet. He cussed us out big time, so we suggested that, perhaps, a fine, Irish gentleman like himself should not...

I grew up with Pat and had many good times with him. As happens in life as we get older life takes us in different directions.I could share many experiences but I don't realy have enough space. I just want to say it was great having Pat as a friend and I feel bad that I was not able to attend to say goodbye.
