Mr. Patrick Casey O'Brien, born on February 13, 1957 in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Catherine I. O'Brien and the late Robert F. O'Brien, passed away at age 61 on December 29, 2018 in Covington, Louisiana.

Mr. O'Brien loved his life as a husband and painter, and was also an outstanding gourmet cook. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends and artists in New Orleans, Baltimore and New York. He studied art the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor degree in painting and at the University of New Mexico with a Masters degree in Art History and a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting.

In many of his representational based paintings, Mr. O'Brien melded reality with fantasy and imagination, producing a world which was symbolic magical and outside the critical mainstream for much of his career. He also painted abstractly in powerful mythic overtones, which were luminous and poetic.

Pat was taken too soon. He will be deeply missed and his memory will live forever in our hearts, and his art. A private celebration of life with family and friends will be held on February 16, 2019 in Covington, La..

Pat was my college housemate for one year in southbend...with much to little fanfare we lived a dream in the late 1970's and became friends in the practice of the arts...he will be missed in his incisive wit and love for the firm, comodiuos, and delightful in a life too short.

Word's alone cant express the sadness that those who are close to you are feeling for the passing of your dear loved one .may you find comfort in knowing that you have friends to support you at this time of sadness . With deep Condolence ,

So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in knowing that God cares for you. 1 Peter 5: 6, 7.

It's oddly confusing to see someone taken so young. I knew Pat back in the early 1980s and remember him as vital, often happy, and devoted to his art. In the short time we knew each other I am grateful for some of the things he taught me about myself and about his perspective on life. My deepest condolences to those he left behind.

I am so sorry for your loss. May you continue to feel comforted by the loving support of your family and friends and also from God Almighty who will give you the strength to get through these difficult times. Psalms 9:9-10
