Patrick Saylor Obituary

Nick Saylor, a man who has climbed wondrous peaks, conquered life's challenges, and loved with the heart of a lion, now dances in the life hereafter. He was lost to an accident on February 5, 2018, in Seattle, Washington. He is desperately missed. Our Nick was born Patrick Nicholas Saylor, July 13, 1987, in Denver, Colorado to James and Alison Saylor. Nick grew up in Lakewood and attended Wheat Ridge High School, Colorado State University, and Western Governors University. These formative years gave birth to the man who would become passionate for the outdoors and for the people with whom he walked in this life. Growing up Nick had many adventures traveling with family, including 3 years in New Zealand. Nick married the love of his life, Mary Jackson and was a devoted stepfather to her son, Miles. They recently moved to North Bend, Washington in the foothills of the Cascades, an outdoor lovers paradise, second only to their "always home" of Colorado. Nick and Mary had plans to live out their lives on a plot of land in the Colorado mountains with horses, dogs, cats, and goats. Many remember Nick for his gentle presence, wide smile, and profound compassion. To Nick, we say, your spirit is carried within the hearts of those who you have loved. The kindness you have given, the love you have shared, the smiles you leave within our souls, changed our lives. We love you more than words can express. May the force be with you. Nick is survived by his parents Jim and Alison, his loving wife, Mary and stepson Miles, his two sisters, Sara Elizabeth Saylor and Molly Katherine Saylor. Nick's family has always been important to him. His grandmother, aunts, uncles, brother-in-laws, cousins and nephews are heartbroken at this loss. Please join us to Celebrate Nick's Life at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 17th, 2018 at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery at the Pavilion of Reflection, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO 80033. Following the service, there will be a gathering of family and friends at the Saylor home, in Lakewood, Colorado. The family suggests remembrances to Phoenix Multisport or Friends of Berthoud Pass.

I didn't know Nick well, but I always sought him out at Bent Gate - he was patient, kind, helpful, funny and knowledgeable. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. He had a big impact on many people. Wishing peace for his family.

May Almighty God and his son bless and keep the Saylor family peaceful during this time of sorrow. ( John 17:3)

Alison, I worked with you on the rehab unit at Childrens Hospital through 1991 when I left. My last name at that time was Moyer. Our children were very young. I had my daughter in September of 1987. Obviously, we lost touch but I recognized the names in Nicks obituary. I hope it is not inappropriate to reach out to say how sorry I am. I cannot fathom what you and your family are going through. I remember spending a little time together off work with our kids so I had to reach out. Im not sure there are comforting words. Just know someone is thinking of you.

While reading the Denver Post this evening I saw Nick's face. I am so shocked and saddened by his passing. I got to know him from when he worked at Bent Gate. He helped me drop some serious cash and I was so bummed when he moved away. It sounded like he had secured his dream job though. He was a truly wonderful person.

Thank you for sharing the beautiful written tribute to Nick's special life. Saying goodbye to a loved one so prematurely is heartbreaking. Wishing that the Saylor & Jackson families find comfort in having so many special memories.

My heart breaks for the Saylor family, and all of those close to Nick. I did not have the opportunity to meet Nick, but he sounds like he was a devoted husband, loving son and brother, kind stepfather, and protector of nature. May his memory live on forever in your hearts.

What a terrible loss for us all. I only met Nick a few times but I liked him immediately. Just two weeks ago, he took Miles and my son to see a movie. We are all going to miss him!

I'm glad I got to help train Nick at Bent Gate and got to know him there and in the hills. It makes me sad to know that he is no longer around.

Nick was an incredible young man. I met him when he was a teen, and even then, he lived his ethics and values. I am Honored to have been one of his Wheat Ridge neighbors- he was definitely one of the Good Guys, and I'm so saddened that we lost an incredible person.
