Not sure what to say?

I'd like to comment on Dick Williams recent entry... Let us not forget the teachers and coaches who through their example and encouragement, often without out us realizing it at the time, have planted the seeds of character, strength, tenacity, and the courage to pursue our dreams. Thanks for your story Dick. Ted Isaacs Class of 64

As a follow up to previous memory. In 1955 Pat was JV basketball coach at Taft . I was a skinny unskilled freshman with desire an energy. Coach rather than cutting me rewarded me with 13th position on a 12 position team. Suiting up only for home games in a road game colored jersey because we only had12 home colored jersey. I played very late in a few game and not well. Sophomore year I started on the JV squad. Junior year I started on the Varsity ahead of many of my prior JV...

Pat was my High School basketball teacher at Taft in 1955 and taught me to drive in 1956. He is remembered by me with respect due to his ability to generate respect and to feel that he cared about you personally. I value the contribution he made in that period of my life. My condolences to his family. Dick Williams Eugene,Oregon

Wonderful tribute to Pat, loved his enthusiasm for life! I was just thinking of his wide smile and pure happiness when he was awarded Master Gardener of the Year in 2008. So many great celebrations in the garden.

Pat was a mentor in my coaching world at Clackamas. One of a kind! We are very sorry for your loss!

There comes a time in life for reflecting. For me that time arrived recently....these past few years to be exact. I was a student at CHS 1960-1964). Pat Smith was one of those teachers I looked up to. I agree with Joe Opsahl; he was a man of few words. He taught us by his example. He was solid, consistant, even keeled, principled, and without my knowing it, was providing an example on how to approach and overcome obstacles in life. He will be missed but his life was not in vain. We are all...

What a great guy, fortunate to have known him.

As a classmate and friend of both Mike and Biff, I spent a fair amount of time during the high school years at the Smith house. My memories of Pat is that he was a man of few words, but when he talked you wanted to pay attention. He could come across as stern with his serious football coach look but underneath was his warm welcoming smile. Back in the early 70´s he was quite the winemaker before it really became popular in Oregon. Rest In Peace to a great man and condolences to the family.

Farewell to a great teacher-coach I'm sad to see that you have left us , I am glad that my friends Paul Oakden , Malcom Ritzer got to visit you just prior to Malcoms leaving us I know that it meant a lot that they got to see you . May you RIP and your family find comfort in knowing how fondly you were thought of by so many . Our Cavalier family is shrinking down here but getting bigger up there so long 'Teach'.
