Patrick Lee Witt Sr passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday June 21, 2025.
Pat along with his identical twin brother, Phillip, were born September 23, 1945, in Sioux Falls, SD. He was the son of Arthur and Marie (Dailey) Witt. At a young age, due to his mother’s ill health, the boys went to live with an aunt and uncle. At the age of 10, they moved to McCrossan Boys Ranch where they resided until the age of 15. Pat enjoyed his time at the Ranch and received an excellent education and learned various life skills. He graduated from Washington High School in 1963.
In 1980, Pat married the love of his life, Dianne. Together they built a blended family full of love, laughter, and warmth. Pat and Dianne loved to spoil their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their home was always open-filled with kids playing and looking for baked goods. Pat would come home from work looking for a cookie to find, they were all gone due to the numerous number of visitors.
At the age of 15, he started working at McDonald’s. He was promoted to manager at the age of 19. Pat was employed with McDonald’s for a total of 29 years. He spent the next 20 plus years working for Green4Ever. His later years were spent working as a vehicle transporter for Frankman and Vern Eide.
In his free time, Pat enjoyed going to Dubuque, IA to ride the Mississippi River on his motorcycle with family and friends. In his earlier years, he enjoyed racing cars, motorcycles and playing racquetball. His hobbies included golfing, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his family and friends.
If you were to ask Pat , “how are you doing”? His response would be, “not as good as some but better than most.”
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Dianne Witt, twin brother Phillip (Twyla) Witt, children Troy (Diana) Witt, David (Merry) Berkelo, Patrick Jr (Patricia) Witt, Timothy Berkelo, Stefany (David) Atkins, grandchildren Ashley Witt (Tim Harris), Kayleigh (Cameron) Munce, Alyssa (Chad) Hedgepeth, Zachary Berkelo, Jacob Berkelo, Austin Witt, Alex Witt, great-grandchildren Taylor, Ava, Dawson, Mason, Charlee and Ivory, brother-in-law, Arlen Thomassen, and sister-in-law, Mary Thomassen and nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Marie Witt, his mother and father-in-law, Arthur and Jeanette and son, Eric Berkelo.
Pat’s days were brightened by his loyal companion, Murphy the dog. Special thank you to family friend, Shawna Goetzinger.
Family requests casual attire.
Service will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 3:00 with family visitation to follow. Private family burial will be held on Saturday.

I met Pat and Phil in Junior High. Went through Washington High together. Always a smile on his face and something “witty” to say. Saw him periodically at Micky D’s. Just a super, great guy and friend. He will be missed for sure. Condolences to his wife and family.
