Patsy Lou Cripps September 17, 1935 - March 28, 2018 SAN DIEGO Patsy Lou (Sipes) Cripps was born to Robert and Velma Sipes in Columbus, Arkansas on September 17, 1935. She went to be with her Lord on March 28, 2018 in San Diego, California.Services will be held at 10:30 am on April 19, 2018 at Gateway Church, 1280 North Johnson Ave., Suite 102, El Cajon, California 92020. Church phone number is 619-440-1136.Patsy is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Samuel C. Cripps. She is also survived by her children and spouses, eight grandchildren and their spouses and nine great-grandchildren.Daughters family: Cheryl A. Sampson and Paul Sampson, Brian and Melissa, Adeline Moreno, Meghan and Josh, Jacob and Mattie Yahoudy, and Kristin and Marshall, Reighan, Logan and Baby Wygant. Son's Family: Cameron C. Cripps and Lisa Cripps, Jordan and Rusti, Kalia Cripps, Tyler and Teddi Cripps, Austin and Ciara, Laila and Malakai Cripps, and Colson Cripps.Son's Family: Curtis W. Cripps, Cathrine Cripps. She is also survived by her sister, Ona Ray Jones.Patsy grew up in Columbus, Arkansas and achieved honors from Saratoga High School. The FBI sent recruiters to her small high school drawing Patsy's interest. After graduating high school and at 17 years old, Patsy traveled to Washington, DC to enter duty for the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover on June 29, 1953. She worked in the FBI headquarters in the Typing section until August 1955. She typed reports, letters, and the three by five cards for those entering the United States through Ellis island.Patsy met Sam at a dance and they courted for four months before they married on Christmas Eve 1954. The newlyweds relocated to San Diego, California and began their life together. Patsy worked in the San Diego FBI office from September 1955 through October 1957 as a clerk typist and radio dispatcher. In 1957, Patsy exited her working career to raise her family.For the next several years, Patsy raised her family as a stay at home mom while Sam dedicated his time to his career in the banking industry. She supported her husband and children in all their activities and functions. She enjoyed involvement in her children's school activities, sewing, cooking, and gardening.In 1977, Patsy re-established her connection to the FBI as a founding member of the San Diego Chapter for the Former FBI Women. She was the FBI Society Treasurer for five years and then held the position of the FBI Nationwide Foundation Treasurer. She held the office of San Diego Chapter Chairman for 18 years.Patsy volunteered for the FBI Boiler Room task force in taping telemarketing calls for 11 years. This task force was a nationwide effort called Operation Senior Sentinel 1 and II'. The goal was to prosecute the callers targeting "seniors" who were contacted by boiler rooms, telemarketing fraud and investment scams. Patsy was instrumental in several search warrants and arrests. In recent years, Patsy enjoyed retirement with Sam which included spending time with her children and grandchildren at every opportunity. Enjoying their home, garden, neighborhood and her loyal companion Buddy'.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rady's Children's Hospital or a San Diego Dog Rescue.
