Mrs. Corkell was the best art teacher on the planet. She was patient and kind and always had a positive constructive approach to how to look at your own work criticslly. She inspired so many of us to express ourselves through art. It was 1973-1976 and I remember she allowed us to bring and play music during AP Studio Art class. I remember it made us feel so real. I adored Mrs McCorkell who was my art teacher for not only art classes but stage design. She challenged me to create and experiment with art and not to be afraid of failure if it didn't 't work out as planned. I carried her standards of excellence with me into my own career and reflected on her teachings many times as a teacher myself. I know she will be missed by her family but they can seek comfort knowing she had a wonderful and meaningful life. Janet Miller class of 1964

My prayers to the family. Mrs. McCorkell was my art teacher at Banning 1977-1980, she was such a positive influence on me and my future career as an artist. This is just heartbreaking, she will forever be missed.
