Patsy Taylor Obituary

Patsy Ann Taylor

Abilene, TX

Patsy Ann Taylor, 80, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 in San Antonio. Funeral services will be 11:30AM, Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South in Abilene, TX with burial following in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00PM. Visitation will be Monday evening, April 24, 2017 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM, at the funeral home.

Patsy was born in Abilene, TX on November 13, 1936. She was a long time Abilene resident and graduated from Abilene High School in 1953. Patsy worked for the Abilene Independent School District, as the principal's assistant starting in 1965 and moved to the district athletic office where she worked from 1973 until retiring in 1995.

She was a longtime member of Oldham Lane Church of Christ where she attended bible study and Sunday worship.

Patsy enjoyed gardening, fellowship with friends, playing the organ, her dog, and shopping of course; she rarely made a purchase without a coupon. She was a generous, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. She was a loyal caregiver for her husband during his final months of life and she was blessed with great neighbors who came to her aid selflessly on a number of occasions. Patsy kept up with family events, births, birthdays, and anniversaries. She took no pride in being helpful, Patsy just believed that is what families do for one another.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Lonnie Taylor; and son, Jimmy Avery.

She is survived by her son and family, Jeff Avery and wife, Donna; granddaughter, Brooke Levens; and great-grandson, Tobin all of San Antonio, TX. You may view and sign the guestbook at www.elliott-hamil.com.

Patsy was a school friend of mine and in the same 1955 Abilene High class. Her obituary has been shared with everyone in her graduating class. I enjoyed visiting with her at the monthly meetings of Abilene Retired Teachers. She was also one of my favorite email friends. Hold on to your memories of this very special lady.
Blessings to her family,
Virginia (Echols) Schmittou

I was so sorry to hear about my cousin Patsy. She was very close to my sister Barbara who is also same age and they along with Helen Jo had so much fun together in their youth at Snyder, Tx. We will miss Patsy very much and offer our sympathy and condolences as well as prayers at this time to her family.

Sweet. Strong. Charming. Funny. That's my description of Patsy Taylor. Plus, she took extraordinary care of Lonnie. The world was a better place because she was in it for 80 years. A wonderful lady! Carl Trusler (Abilene)
