Paul was one of my best childhood friends. We both lived on 54th St. in Brooklyn. His parents Dr. Fred and Miriam Bohensky lived on the corner of 11th Ave. Dr. Fred Bohensky saved my fathers life. My father was his plumber.
I played football and stick ball among the parked cars with Paul and his brother Alfred.
I spent quit a bit of time in his parents house. I have very happy memories.
I am very saddened by Pauls passing.

Dr. Bo was one of the kindest, caring people that I ever met. He always treated you like a person, not a number. Not only was he a wonderful person, but a great doctor. I will miss him tremendously. Rest in peace.

He helped my son Justin who is autistic and didn't trust any draft but Dr Bohensky not only got down on his level he made him feel safe and was the only dr to help him with his recurring bronchitis and asthma he was my nieces favorite dr also

Dr Bohensky was quite special to me as a patient and as a fellow physician. He practiced medicine as both an art and a science and always displayed a real sincerity for those patients in his care. He was at the top of his game and used all of his skills to provide his patients with compassionate care always coupled with the understanding of the latest knowledge in his discipline. Although not on staff at BMH he always had time to speak with me concerning patients I had real interest in and making certain that he made time in his schedule to see them and then to speak to me related to his findings. Dear bohensky family I just heard the news today and I'm deeply saddened. I can't imagine your pain as I knew this man as my doctor for the past 27 years. He saved my life when I was 15 years old and has treated me like an adopted daughter. He took the time to speak to me about life on many occasions and give me advice when I needed it (even when I didn't want it!). I have a quality of life that through medicine he was able to give me (after the first 15 years of my life no other dr could) He truly has made an impact on my life and my family's and I will be forever grateful to him. Dr Bohensky saved my life. He diagnosed my asthma when no one else could and ended years of struggle. I will be eternally grateful to him for that. I enjoyed our conversations whenever I came to the office. As business owners we shared in each other's struggles and victories. He was a caring man that always asked me if there was anything else I wanted to discuss. I wish all doctors where as caring as he was. I last saw him on Feb 24 and I was very concerned about him, but through all his pain he still shook my hand and smiled and wished me luck on a pending business trip. Dr. Bohensky was the FIRST doctor I found who I honestly felt like I could trust. Finding the right pulmonologist was a struggle for me until I met him. He heard things in my lungs other doctors couldn't and it was because Dr. Bohensky really listened, on so many levels. His compassion is something I will always remember. When my asthma got to a point where I had to be admitted to the hospital, his comforting promise to get me better kept me going and he saved my life when my lungs were worse than I ever experienced. Many times he'd listen to my tears and frustration trying to battle this disease. It's very rare to find a doctor who cares so much for his patients; they are truly few and far between. I moved and never got a chance to thank him but I hope he knew how much of a difference he made in my life. My prayers go out to his family. Rest in peace Dr. Bohensky. You will be missed and remembered fondly.
