Paul Donald Boudreau, 86, of Mansfield Avenue, Norton; formerly of East Washington Street, North Attleboro and East Street, Attleboro; died on Monday, March 10, 2008 at the Epoch Senior Health Care of Norton. He was the beloved husband of Virginia E. (Bruffill) Boudreau to whom he was married on January 16, 1943 in Attleboro, Massachusetts.

Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on July 15, 1921, he was one of nine children born to the late Stephen and Mary (Frigon) Boudreau. He was raised and educated in the City of Attleboro where he resided for many years prior to moving to North Attleboro 8 years ago and then to Norton on September 13, 2007.

Just as he was about to turn 17 years old, he enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Fort Devens and served from his enrollment on July 13, 1937 until his honorable discharge on June 30, 1938.

He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard on September 17, 1942 in Providence, Rhode Island and served honorably until his discharge in Brooklyn, New York on November 16, 1945.

Mr. Boudreau was employed as a tubing drawer for Leach & Garner in Attleboro for 45 years until his retirement in 1984. Following his retirement, he returned to work and was employed by the former Pelletier’s Auto Parts, now Carquest, in Attleboro for 20 years.

Not one to stop working, he returned to work once again and was employed as a school crossing guard for the Town of North Attleboro having been assigned to the Community School crossing in downtown North Attleboro from 2004 – 2007.

He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, North Attleboro.

Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, he enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the City of Attleboro league for many years and at one time was one of the oldest members and still refused to use a cart to get from one hole to the other. He claimed to be able to “smell out” a golf course from afar.

An ardent walker, he would walk despite the weather conditions.

He also enjoyed bicycling even in recent years.

In addition to his loving wife of 65 years, Virginia E. (Bruffill) Boudreau, he leaves a daughter: Donna J. Sirois and her husband, Robert J. Sirois, of North Attleboro; a son: Richard D. Boudreau in Florida; four grandchildren: Mark P. Laferriere of North Attleboro; Lisa M. Trotter of North Attleboro; Ashley S. Schwartz in Indiana and Arlyn S. Fernandes in Florida; 9 great grandchildren; a brother: Norman N. Boudreau of Plainville; a sister: Celia Hewes of North Attleboro and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was the beloved maternal grandfather of the late Lynn M. Hawes who died on May 3, 2000.

Mr. Boudreau was predeceased by his siblings: Claire Murphy, Annette O’Neil, Juliette DeBlois, Irene Joyce, Henry Boudreau and Raymond Boudreau.

Not sure what to say?

Mrs. Boudreau,

So very sorry for your loss. I will always remember Mr. Boudreau as I took walks with the kids in the neighborhood on East Street. He so enjoyed his yard, it always looked so nice. Our sympathy to you and your family.

Grandpa, you were always the person that I knew I could call if I ever neede anything. You were also theonly one that I knew would tell me the truth good or bad. You were so much more than a Grandpa to me you were my Dad and my hero I will always keep you alive in my heart. I love and miss you already so much more than words can say.

Aunt Ginny, Donna, and Dick,
Tom and I are so saddened by Uncle Paul's passing. I have great memories of him at the family picnics and, more recently, the BOGIE golf tournament (see photo album). He was so genuine, always interested in "what I'd been up to". His booming voice and infectious laugh will be heard in heaven and loved by everyone there, too. I loved him. Our prayers are with you all.

Aunt Ginny & Uncle Paul,

Always smiling and always happy to see you. At the grocery store, the cross walk, or a quiet church it was more important that he give you a hearty "you look good to me" than just nod or say a quiet hello. I have admired his friendlyness and genuine enjoyment of life for as long as I can remember. We will miss and never forget you! You left a lasting, positive memory on me and my family. God bless!

Aunt Ginny and Family,

We will truly miss Uncle Paul and his laughter and sense of humor. He was always willing to give advice be it wrong or right, good or bad!

You and Virginia lived across the street from me when we built our house 40 some years ago. You always were working and keeping up your property. You were always ready to help if we were in a jam. You enjoyed life to its fullest.
So sorry.

Heart broken is not enough to say about Paul's passing. He was so dear to me and his wit and laughter will be sorely missed. Well Paul, I guess I won't be "bothering" you for awhile until I see you in heaven. Until then, my friend, God welcome you into his kingdom.
