Not sure what to say?

To Paul´s family- my deepest condolences. You know you are a beautiful family to me since I grew up with you all and your mom was not only my piano teacher but a great family friend. May beautiful memories help you through any sad time. Love you. Vate Singfield

Dr. Burgett was one of my favorite professors at Nazareth. His course on African American music was my favorite course in college. I was sad to hear of his passing! He will be greatly missed by all who knew him . Linda Brescia Bonacci

To Paul's family - my deepest sympathy. I am so sorry for your loss, but I hope precious memories will carry you through this sad time. I grew up with the Burgett family and those of us who grew up on Cabanne Place know what a magical place it was to live. And in reading about Paul's life, it appears he kept the magic in his life. Hugs and kisses to Peter, Lettie, Mary, Maggie, and Cathy and to Paul's wife Catherine.

I've read a lot of tributes in recent days to Paul's professional labors at the U of R, and I daresay that all the praises of his abilities and achievements are richly merited. But I remember Paul once saying to me that, as he got older, the people he valued most, both at work and outside it, were not necessarily those who were great at their jobs but rather those who were good human beings--by which I think he meant people marked by kindness, good humor, and integrity. So, judging Paul by...

My dear Paul Burgett...Music is well said to be the speech of angels; in fact, nothing among the utterances allowed to man is felt to be so divine. It brings us near to the infinite.- Thomas Carlyle

Paul is fondly remembered from my days as a student at the Universiry of Rochester in the early 70's, and later when I served as a member of the Trustees Council. His gregarious nature warmed the campus and his infectious personality affected all who knew him. Paul poured his soul into his efforts to bring harmony between discordant groups and ideologies. My heart and prayer's are with Paul's family.

I did not know Paul personally when we were students together at SLUH; but I went to SLUH band concerts and heard his good music!! He was one of a few black students at SLUH at that time; but I respected and appreciated his musical talent, plus he was really smart!! I did not tell him that, but I say it now and say it proud!!! I have lived in Buffalo, NY, since 1993 and was unaware that Paul was just down the Thruway from me, an hour away!!! I truly regret that I did not meet up with him in...

Paul Burgett was (it pains me to use the past tense...) an astonishing, vivifying presence at the Eastman School of Music when I first arrived there in 1975. Most treasurable, perhaps, were the years when he served as Dean of Students there. Many of us went into a kind of mourning when he left for the River Campus to teach and to serve in the University administration. But he seemed to remember each of us, very specifically and fondly, when we would bump into him at a concert or in the JCC. ...

My deepest condolences to Kay, Maggie & all the family of Paul...

Feeling so heartbroken since learning of his passing...

Know that you are in my thoughts & prayers...
