Not sure what to say?

Some teachers give us gifts that we will cherish forever. Mr. Copley was one of those teachers. I appreciated him because he challenged me, he believed in me, and he encouraged me. There is no finer privilege in life than to have such a wonderful influence on one's being. I'm glad to have known him.

Mr.Copley was a fantastic professor at Lewis & Clark. I remember taking two classes simply because he was the professor. My sincerest condolences.

Laurie: We have so many great memories of you and Paul... both fun and serious. What a team you were! Your long-time friends....

Paul was my favorite teacher in high school. He taught me a love of history (and of sardonic British humor) that remains with me to this day. I'm glad I had the opportunity to know him.

I think of him more frequently than you might guess. I often use a quote from him that makes me laugh and is oh so true; "Anything not worth doing, is not worth doing well."

Fortunately, the paces he put us, his students, through were well-worth the work. I am blessed to have had him as a teacher.

Mr. Copley was one of my favorite teachers at Sunset High School. He challenged all of us in his AP Modern Problems class to wrestle with contemporary issues and emphasized critical thinking. I learned a great deal about writing well-reasoned essays from him as well. He was a gifted educator with a great wit. Mr. Copley, you live on in your students' memories. Blessings to your family.

Cherie Hubel Lorenzo, Sunset High Class of 1977

Thank you for reminding me about one of the great people and educators that I have ever known and priviledged to watch in my 30+ years in HS education.
Paul did many amazing things in his life, but to see him "work" in front of students was a real treat. He set a high standard yet made it look so easy. Truly a wonderful man in so many ways!!!

Laurie-My thoughts are with you-I have his picture along w/his 3 student/athletes from SHS hanging on my family room wall taken at dedication of Appollo Pavilion so memories will always be there! What a nice memento to a great teacher and coach. I'm sending a copy to son Jim--
