CRYSTAL LAKE – Paul Dobbins, 75, of Crystal Lake, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born July 27, 1934, in Jackson, Ohio, to Carl A. and Marie (Dunn) Dobbins. He married the love of his life, Julia Yerian, on Dec. 27, 1954.

He enjoyed cooking and gardening. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching Ohio State sports most of all. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He retired after more than 20 years at McHenry County College as vice president of administrative affairs/treasurer.

He is survived by his wife; his daughters, Dee (Fred) Rambacher, Jane Prichard and Suzie (Ken) Massett; his seven grandchildren, Aimee (Jamie) Swanson, Anne Rambacher, Ryan (Andrea) Rambacher, Abby and Tommy Prichard, Jack and Sarah Massett; his three great-grandchildren, Sami, Sydney and Sophia Swanson; and a brother, Carl R. (Ann) Dobbins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 30, with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176), Crystal Lake. The visitation will continue at the funeral home Saturday, May 1, from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral procession at 10:15 a.m. for a 10:30 a.m Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1023 McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake. Interment will follow in Crystal Lake Memorial Park Cemetery.

Dobbie was a wonderful, kind caring man and I remember him so fondly as he was my teammate in MCC’s bowling league. I agree whole heartedly with Paula that since Dobbie retired, that MCC hasn’t been the same.
