Paul was a fine, devoted family man and a fun and thoughtful friend. I appreciated him on many levels, especially his devotion to his precious wife and kids and to his church. In 2002, after I accepted the challenge of serving in Health and Human Services in Washington, DC, the chairman of Pediatrics at Texas Tech told me that one of his faculty members, Dr. Paul Douthit, was an excellent advocate for families and youth.
