Not sure what to say?

Our lives have been illuminated by Father Paul's joy and sheer ebulliance. His deep acceptance and generosity were matched by acuity in thinking and language. We loved his pithy and vivid correspondence, his encouragement and spirit. What a generous, generous heart. How lucky we are to have known him.

Like my sister, Mimi, I just learned Fr. Paul has passed away. He, along with the O'Rourkes, was one of my parents closest friends. I can't remember all of the barbeques and good times we had together starting in the early '50s. He always kept in contact with my Mother during the 20 years she lived after my Father passed away. They loved talking about race horses and other interesting subjects from theology to Willie McCovey.I am truly sorry our family was not represented at Fr. Paul's Mass.He...

I just found out today (April 11) that Father Paul had passed away. I have so many great memories of him. Our family first met Father when he came to Saint Patrick's in San Jose. He asked if he could leave his new puppy with us until he got settled into the parish...13 years later, "Terry", Father's Irish Setter, was still with us. Father also married my husband and I 33 years ago. My sympathy and prayers go out to all of his family.

I will miss your great sense of humor and the stories you shared with me and my brothers about our grandfather (your brother). I will be there this week to say my last earthly goodbye. Rest in peace Uncle Paul.

May Father Paul rest in the peace of Our Lord whom he served so faithfully over these now many years. A great guy ... generous, funny, kind and caring. From his Serra days, "Once a Padre, always a Padre." "Well done, Oh good and faithful servant." To the family, sincere condolences.

Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.

My fraternal prayers and good wishes to all of the Duggans on Paul's passing. He had become, although too late along life's path, a dear friend; and I hold him as an exemplary good, kind and giving priest. I'll be concelebrating his Mass.

I knew Fr. Duggan for about 10 yrs. He would come down to San Diego to help out at our parish a few times a year. I would be the one picking him up from the airport and taking him to lunch. I even flew up to Monterey to see him when he lived up there. Even though he hasn't been down here in about 7 yrs I still would send him notes from time to time. I have never met a man who who was as kind and willing to help as Fr. Duggan. Fr. Duggan will be missed by many. I pray that we all will meet...
