Paul Fellner died just 2 weeks short of his 103rd birthday. He was born in 1922 in Austria just in time to experience the Great Depression. Then Austria was conquered by Germany and Paul was drafted as a teenager into the army. In spite of such a difficult childhood he survived, and after the war...

Not sure what to say?

Mr. Fellner was such a good, smart man. He did our taxes until he retired. He was very honest and shared fun stories. He helped many people!

I'm sorry for your loss. "Mr. Fellner" (I always addressed him as that because of the enormous respect for him. I savored the stories about his childhood, every meeting was a lesson. He would sit patiently listening while rolling a yellow pencil on the desk, then he would start "Well, I'll tell you...." and in a sentence provide an answer, a pearl, I remember his guidance still. We met twice at Terwilliger Plaza, most recently last Fall, he was great, remembering our past and making a joke....

Eva: Your dad lived a great life! Sorry for your loss.

I knew Paul and Maria through the Austrian Club. Paul was a good waltzer dancer , and he asked the ladies who did not have a dancing partner to dance. Thank you, Paul!

Terry and I send our condolences to Marianne and Eva. We heard tales from Marianne about the extraordinary annual circumnavigation backpacking hikes Paul and Maria did around Mt. Hood well into their 80s. Such inspirations!

Mr Fellner will be greatly missed. He and his CPA Firm served us and our family business for 40+ years. My mother and I would visit him regularly at Terwilliger Plaza and always enjoyed his stories and time together. We will also greatly miss his dear wife Maria. We send our deepest condolences to his daughters Eva and Marianne. Alix, Helle and the Nathan Family

l met Paul twice I think. Both times we were fellow hikers. The last time and most memorable one was hiking Trapper Creek Wilderness when I think Paul was 92.This was not an easy hike.Fifteen plus miles, lots of elevation and some rugged rocky parts.l was worried if Paul could complete this.He did fine.He told me about his Portland Marathon and told he came in first in his age group.I asked him how many in his age group and he laughingly told me he was the only one!I thinks that is the last time...

My name is Christine (Goldbacher) Hanawalt. My parents, Rudy and Herta Goldbacher, who also immigrated from Austria, were good friends of the Fellners. I remember some very delicious dinners in their lovely home and their daughters sharing their toys with us. Our parents always spoke kindly of Paul and Maria. I know he will be missed but there will be joy in his reunification with his wife. Sending heartfelt condolences on your loss.

We as a family grew up in the Mt. Tabor area. We visited often. We new of his daughters. Dad, and Mom, Rudy and Herta. Sister Chris, I, Ilse, and brother Rudy. We enjoyed their company. I have in the years sent him a Christmas Card. He will be missed. Love Ilse, and Family
