Paul A. Fiala, 78, of R. D. #1, Greensboro (Cabbage Flats), Pa. died unexpectedly at 4:00 P. M. on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at the emergency room at Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg, Pa.

He was born January 18, 1926 at Woodside, Fayette County, a son of the late Michael and Mary V. Klonga Fiala.

Mr. Fiala resided in the Greensboro area most of his life and worked at the Duquesne Light Warwick Mine for 45 years until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the U. M. W. A. Duquesne Light Local 6310. Mr. Fiala served with the U. S. Army during World War II in the Philippines. He enjoyed gardening.

On June 8, 1957, he married Dolores J. “Sally” Brumley, who died February 19, 1998. Surviving are two sons, Paul C. Fiala, with whom he made his home at Greensboro and Bruce A. Fiala of Boca Raton, Fla.; a sister, Mary Matyk of Rices Landing, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a brother, Michael Fiala, Jr.; three sisters, Anna Kois, Josephine Boggio and Rose McManis and a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Fiala.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P. M. on Friday in the Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa. where funeral services will be held at 10:00 A. M. on Saturday, September 4, 2004 with the Rev. Harold O. Kelley officiating. Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and V. F. W. Post 3491 will pass in review at 9:45 A. M. on Saturday and accord military honors at the funeral home following the funeral service.
