Not sure what to say?

I just came across this site ( August 2025) now, but wanted to say something about Gene: he was one heck of a good man. I came to San Diego, from Phoenix, in 1977 on a football scholarship. There was no weight room at SDSU. Gene allowed Aztec football players to work out for FREE at his gym. ( Who does that?). He always provided free professional advice on lifting, supplements, diet, etc. He was a BIG Aztec supporter and on occasion helped train athletes( football and basketball) at SDSU....

I know its been a number of years but I ran across this looking for pictures of Gene. I was 15 years old and joined his gym in 1979. He took me under his wing and taught me how to not only workout, but how to behave. I remember one time I went up to him while he was doing lat pull-downs and started talking. That was the last time I ever did that to anybody.   I still have a Fisher preacher bench in my home gym. Nothing is made like that anymore. The gym is now or was a marijuana dispensary....

I hung around the gym when I was a kid, and Gene was always really nice to me. From those days, I still hold Gene Fisher, Chuck Cota, and my dad as great examples of strength, fitness, and healthy living. I wanted to look like, be like, and be as strong as those guys, and I still try to follow in their footsteps. Gene was a great bodybuilder, strength coach, businessman, family friend, and role model.

WoW, what a guy! He will be greatly missed and thought of often.

I trained at Fisher's Gym in the mid 80's and still have the t-shirt to prove it! Gene was always willing to share his wealth of knowledge with me. I much appreciated his innovation in the field of equipment made women specific and his encouragment. He always made sure I felt at ease in the gym and was always willng to give a spot when needed. My sympathy to his family.

Met Gene in 1990 at my gunshop across from the gym. Conversations with Gene were about workouts, guns, planes, war, the military and life. Gene told me how he beat cancer. The most memorable was Gene saying "Lon, one day you will be able to do this" as he curled the whole rack with one hand. Thoughts and prayers to the Fisher family.

I was sorry to hear about Gene's death, I have alot of fond memories of him in school, and at his gym. He will be missed by all. My condolences go out to his family.
