Paul William Flickner, 64, of Groton, died suddenly Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at his home. He was born in New Castle, PA to John Flickner and Margaret Michaels Boughter on November 7, 1960.
Paul left high school early to join the US Navy. After boot camp, he was stationed in Groton where he met his lifelong love, Linda Drake. After a short courtship, Paul and Linda were married in September 1981.
He held a variety of jobs - from driving cab to managing a Domino’s Pizza to working at a karate school and selling everything from vacuum cleaners to audio/video equipment to cars to computers. He loved computers. He taught computer classes and eventually formed his business, Pinnacle Computers. He ended up at General Physics and worked as a contractor for Pfizer until he retired. His retirement job was working at Staples in New London, where he could continue to work with computers.
Paul loved to learn and that led him to many different hobbies. Playing drums, playing foosball, metal detecting, making hot sauce, cooking and photography. He was known for his delicious, creative pizzas and he had an exceptional eye for photography. His love of the band, Kansas, led him to attend over 50 of their concerts during his lifetime. And he didn’t care what you said about them, he loved his Dallas Cowboys.
Paul and Linda were happily married for almost 44 years and had 4 wonderful children: Amanda, Benjamin, Alisa and Brianna. They also have 4 beautiful grandchildren: Gisela, Ashton, Michael and Tove. He was predeceased by his son, Ben.
Paul believed in God and loved studying the Bible - especially King Solomon and the book of Ecclesiastes. He believed that Jesus gave us the gift of eternal life when He died for us on the cross. He knew that although he was far from perfect, heaven awaited him, and he wasn’t afraid of death. What peace we have knowing we will see him again!
A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00pm Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Groton Heights Baptist Church, 72 Broad Street, Groton. The service will also be streamed online at http://www.youtube.com/@grotonheightsbaptistchurch5390 .
In keeping with Paul’s slightly rebellious personality, please dress casually for this service. Paul loved jeans, t-shirts, tie dye, concert shirts, shirts with silly sayings and football jerseys. He’d want us to be comfortable. Come celebrate his life with us.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Groton Heights Baptist Church where Paul was a member for many years.
