Not sure what to say?

Paul was one of "my" Student Conservation Association interns at Lava Beds National Monument , summer of 1999. He was a popular and promising young man. We are all diminished by loosing Paul. I feel privileged to have known him.

I took a class with Paul while I was at Auburn - the infamous “Biology of the Southern Appalachians” course with George Folkerts. This meant I shared a van, various tents, hotel rooms, food, beers, salamanders, bats, trees, fishes, insects, the cities of Asheville and Boone NC and the like with Paul. I distinctly remember him catching a woodland jumping mouse (Napaeozapus insignis) barehanded in the woods on top of a mountain. Not only was this impressive because of the agility and stamina...

paul was one of my best friends. he was witty and kind, and no matter what i was going through he helped me talk it out and feel better. i love taylor and paul and porter with all of my heart. everyday i think of them out in the field by our houses playing with me and my pitbull frank.

My name is Bonnie Kelly, I worked with Paul in Sequoia National Park, CA. back in 1996-97. Paul was a joy to know. He always had a smile and kind word for all. His caring free spirit, sense of humor, and love of nature will be missed by all. I feel blessed to have the good fortune of being Paul's friend. He came all the way to visit me in Michigan one year and crashed his car in the snowstorm. My dad & uncle got it fixed up for him. I was working 2 jobs and didn't have a lot of time to spend...

I only met Paul Daniel once at his step-grandmother's funeral in
Tuscaloosa a couple of years ago. He seemed to be a very nice
and caring young man who was very polite to everyone. I expected
no less though considering the sweet nature of his mother and
loving family. I hurt along with his family for such a tragic loss. I
wish that I could have known him better. Our prayers for God's peace and
serenity to the family.

Paul was one of my brother's best friends, and I am heart broken over such a tragic loss of a wonderful young man. He will truly be missed.

Paul was one of my friends through middle school and high school. As a matter of fact, he was everybody's friend. Paul was always smiling and ready to have fun. Believe it or not, we used to listen to a song called "Return to Pooh Corner" when we were in the AR room. We used to love quoting Monty Python, and do anything else silly that we could think of. I think we had so much fun as kids that we never wanted to grow up. I love you and will miss you dearly, Paul.

With the love and guidance of two good parents, I saw Paul grow up to become a kind and caring young man. He will truly be missed by those of us who had the opportunity to know him.

I didn't have the privilege of knowing Paul personally but I do know his dad, James, my first cousin. I am just in the process of renewing family acquaintances and I am saddened that I will not be able to make the acquaintance of Paul. My wife Victoria and I would appreciate his love of animals. Our prayers are with his wife and family.
