Dear Diane, I never had the chance to meet you. I was at the service today for Ed, however you were surrounded by loved ones and I didn't want to interupt. I am so very sorry for your loss. Ed was a very close friend of mine during our teen years. We ran into each other on occasion and he was very excited to share with me what a beautiful girl he married. We hugged, prommised to get together so I could meet you and of course as old friends too often do, we lost touch.Today I have many regrets about that. He was a very important friend in my youth. To eds mom- be proud in the fact that you raised a complete gentlemen. I lost my own mom when I was 15 however she adored your son!!! May your faith get you through your loss. You are in my prayers. I have never before witnessed how deep true love could actually be until I met you, Diane. Your's & Ed's love was a true testament to what love really should be like. What you experienced in 17 years...certainly not long enough..but I do believe was much much more than any couple has experienced in 50 years together. Unfortunately, I only had the honour of sharing in a glimpse of Ed's life. In a matter of moments, we connected. In our few visits together...we laughed, we shared...we cried. I will never exchange those moments for anything in this world. He was one class act...as you remain. My words of advice to him once were: "Ed, when you get up in the morning...Open up those shades & let the world in(unless you have a headache)! Start walking...& keep walking, my friend." Well...I must believe...He has opened up the most magnificant shades of grandeur & colour up in the Heavens. I must believe that he is walking tall...smiling upon you & all that loved him. Until we meet again...may a peace envelop you...and may God's hand lay upon you ever so gently.
Love,
Shawn-Kristin

Please accept Patti and my condolences. Although many of us have lost loved ones to cancer, your strength and courage through the long ordeal is truly inspiring. Also, thanks for reminding us of to be more compassionate and loving to those we hold dear.
