Paul Leroy Funderburk, 71 of Charlotte, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Carrington Place Rehabilitation and Living Center. He was born on September 8, 1950 to the late Leroy Funderburk and Margaret Jones Funderburk, in Monroe, North Carolina. He received his formal education in the Union County School System, Waxhaw, North Carolina. Paul accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was of the Baptist faith.
Paul worked as a construction worker for many years until his health declined. He enjoyed watching sports, western movies, listening to R&B, country and gospel music. Paul enjoyed eating good home cooked meals and visiting family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Funderburk and Margaret Funderburk; four sisters, Jenny Funderburk, Margaret Funderburk, Elaine Funderburk and Patricia Garris.
He leaves to cherish his memory four daughters, Valeria Sutton of Greensboro, NC, Oliver Davis (Phil) of Greensboro, NC, Janice Walker (Timothy) of Charlotte, NC, Antonia Alston (Tyrone, Sr.) of Greensboro, NC and one son, Antoine Ballard of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Robert Funderburk of Newport News, VA and Charles Funderburk of Monroe, NC; twenty grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
