Eulogy by Cal Kappes for Paul Gabriz
Euology given at Paul's funeral service on Tuesday, June 6, 2006, St. Robert of Newminster Church

I’m up here to tell you all the nice things about my friend Paul Gabriz. Do get comfortable, it’s going to take a couple of hours.
When you talk about “Mr. Nice Guy” you’re talking about Paul Gabriz. He was a big man with a big heart. Did you ever hear a harsh word said about him? I don’t think so, he was loved by everyone who...

Dear Elayne and Children,

I am honored to have known and loved your husband and father.

I will always remember and treasure the last time I was able to say good-bye to him at the Heart Center. Thank you dearly Elayne for calling me and giving me that chance. It was a very sad day for me.
I always thought of my dad, who passed away 12 years ago, whenever I talked to Paul. They played golf together and became friends.

I am happy to think of Paul...

Dear Gabriz Family,
Though I didn't know Paul, I've heard so many stories about him from Ryan and Leah that I felt as if I did know him. Leah shared lots of great memories of him from her childhood and on. Even though he is gone now, I know Ryan and Leah will keep him alive in their hearts and speak of him often to their children. And so, in that way, he will always live on.
Just think of it like he has left on a cruise. All of you are standing on the dock waving goodbye, but...

We were so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.

Dear Elaine and family: Our girls were friends and I have loved you since the beginning of St Roberts but never got to know Paul. Having lost my husband I know it will be hard at first but time heals even when memories linger and I hope they will as mine have, Bless you all during this unhappy time and my family sends you loving thoughts and prayers, in God's love Beth Grochowalski, Georgie, Brenda and Jenifer

A note for Uncle Paul,

Uncle Paul will be missed by his nephews and niece, Ed Steck, David Steck, John Steck and Carol Wolff. We all have such fond memories of our Uncle Paul, a truly great guy. We send our loving thoughts and prayers to Aunt Elayne and all of our cousins.

We are so very sorry to here of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your Mother at this most sad time in your life.

Dear Gabriz Family,

I am so sorry that you have lost this wonderful man, Paul. He was loved by all of Behler Dr., and more around the country. We were blessed to have you for neighbors, for so many years.

It is only 12 weeks since Bill died, and you were there for Suzie, Sally, Doug and myself. The memories we have of so many years, with our children growing up together, will always stay with us.

Paul was a gentle and loving man, who loved his Family,...

Dearest Elayne, I will hold you close in thought during this time of sadness in your loss of Paul. God's wonderful gift of memories will sustain you and as you pass through the seasons of time your strength will again be renewed.
Will loving thoughts,
Jane Irish-Boomstra
