Paul Richard Galutia D.O.

Paul R. Galutia D.O. of Phoenix, AZ passed away peacefully at his home on May 7, 2021.

Dick was born in Hornell, NY on October 21,1922. He was an accomplished trumpet player in the Hornell High School band and The Manlius School. He joined the U.S. Navy and served our nation as a flight engineer during World War II. Upon discharge, he graduated from Alfred University and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Class of 1952.

After an internship at Allentown Osteopathic Hospital, Dr. Galutia served the community of Coopersburg, PA as a family practice physician. His practice was located in his home on Main Street, but he was also busy attending to his patients wherever they needed help. Dick served as the team physician for local sports clubs and Southern Lehigh High School. After 20 years in practice, he continued his medical career as a staff physician at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). He was very active in his church and the Lions Club during his time in Indiana. He completed his medical career serving as an attending physician at the Masonic Homes in Elizabethtown, PA.

In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the shore. He had a love for Arizona, living for years in Apache Junction as a winter visitor before moving to Chandler and then Phoenix permanently.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce L. Galutia, to whom he was married for 71 years, parents Paul E. and Bernice (Hedges) Galutia and sister Dorothy Tinklepaugh. He is survived by a sister Marjorie Perrino, daughter Barbara Regis and husband Anthony of Phoenix, AZ, son David L. Galutia and wife Diane of Mount Joy, PA, son Richard R. Galutia and wife Lisa of York, PA and grandsons Nick Galutia of York, PA and Alex Galutia of Portland, Oregon.

Throughout his life Dick was an avid fisherman, particularly enjoying flounder fishing at the family vacation home in Avalon, NJ. He loved his time fishing for brook and lake trout in the Maine wilderness with his fishing buddies. He also began pitching horseshoes in retirement, winning trophies at several Delaware state tournaments and the Arizona Senior Olympics.

Dick was also a dedicated fan of all Philadelphia professional sports teams, Arizona State University sports and his beloved Navy Football team.

The family plans a private celebration of Dick's Life.
