Paul H. Gruwell

My mother purchased a large oil that Mr. Gruwell had painted while at Cornish. I would like the work to have a permanent home. I have fond memories of my brother and I as children searching and imagining what we saw in the many shapes and colors.

My mother (born in 1929) had Paul H. Gruwell do sketches of her and each of her four children (on Bainbridge Island) in November, 1958. I just thought to look up the artist and see it must be this gentleman. They now seem all that more special. I am sorry for your loss.

Paul was my Mentor in college at the Art institute. We became good friends. Miss him :(

Paul and I worked together at Boeing in the late '50s. We were close friends, and I had many enjoyable moments in the house that he'd built on Bainbridge Island. I left Seattle for travels and work in Europe;
heard that Paul had gone to California to merge with the flower folk. Very pleased to hear of his animation achievements. Sorry we lost touch..

So sorry to hear about Paul. His work was wonderful. I fondly remember him and Lisa, my neighbors, when they lived in Topanga in the late 60s. My sister and Lisa were good friends.
