Paul H. Gruwell

My mother (born in 1929) had Paul H. Gruwell do sketches of her and each of her four children (on Bainbridge Island) in November, 1958. I just thought to look up the artist and see it must be this gentleman. They now seem all that more special. I am sorry for your loss.

Paul was my Mentor in college at the Art institute. We became good friends. Miss him :(

Paul and I worked together at Boeing in the late '50s. We were close friends, and I had many enjoyable moments in the house that he'd built on Bainbridge Island. I left Seattle for travels and work in Europe;
heard that Paul had gone to California to merge with the flower folk. Very pleased to hear of his animation achievements. Sorry we lost touch..

So sorry to hear about Paul. His work was wonderful. I fondly remember him and Lisa, my neighbors, when they lived in Topanga in the late 60s. My sister and Lisa were good friends.

Rest In Peace, Paul*SunBear. You were a wonderful mentor and a great friend. You will be missed by all those who worked with you during the golden twilight years of hand - drawn animation. Those who were lucky to be taught by you will remember you fondly. Fare Thee Well.

Other than a brief meeting, I knew you well through the heart of your wonderful daughter, the filmmaker, Lisa. Because of you she l knew so much more. I missed you and I know she will miss you eternally. I am so glad you are in a higher place today. God Bless you Papa, and all us Bears.
