Paul Joseph Henon Jr.

Paul Joseph Henon, Jr., of Vienna, Va passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the age of 80. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Betty Ann McWilliams Henon, son James P. Henon and his wife Kerry, daughters Pamela C. Gibbs and her husband Barnett and Elizabeth A. Hufner and her husband Michael; sisters Mary Murphy and Eleanor Walter and 7 grandchildren, Kaela, Jack, Maggie, Emma, Colin, Sam and Cooper. He was preceded by his sister Emma Henon. Paul was born in Atlantic City, NJ on March 13, 1933 to the late Paul J. Henon, Sr. and Frances Carroll Henon. He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology (B.E.E., 1960) after serving 2 years in the Army. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from American University in 1967. Paul was admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia in 1967 and in Virginia in 1994. He served at various levels at the US Patent and Trademark Office (1967-1976). He was an Adjunct Professor in Patent Law, George Washington University (1972-1982). President Ford appointed him to the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences in 1976 on which he served until 1989. Then he joined the law firm of Nixon & Vanderhye P. C. and retired as a partner in 1997. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
